Centennial Walk Project

The Centennial Walk project is scheduled to begin July 21, 2008 and will continue through October 14, 2008. Construction fencing (6’ temporary chain link) is scheduled to remain in place along the center of the quad until October 14. A pass through is not an option from East to West Quad.

Sod will be installed September 26 on either side of the new walk, which is approximately 5-10’ on each side and cannot support heavy traffic for at least two weeks after installation. The contractor will be using part of Shields Ave as a fenced staging area for the project. That area will collapse after September 26.

Please contact the Assistant Landscape Architect, Christina Demartini Reyes at 752-3161 if you have additional questions.

Reservation Policy Update

Beginning September 1, 2008, CEVS will require that all reservation requests made by campus departments, unions, campus interest groups, and ASUCD include a university (DaFis) account to recharge (this will apply to registered student organizations as of November 1, 2008).  This policy applies to “free” or non-paid spaces as well as rooms that have a rental fee. There have been numerous issues with charges incurred in “free” space that includes, but is not limited to, additional cleaning, AV equipment requests, and lost or damaged equipment.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.   Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.

Memorial Union Closure Update
In Fall 2008, the East Conference room at the Memorial Union will be closing as an event space indefinitely.  At the same time, King Lounge will be opening as a new event space. King Lounge offers a variety of set-up options as well as increased capacities. The Mee Room is also an alternative location to the East Conference room, as the capacity is closely matched for lecture and classroom style configurations. Please visit the Campus Unions website to view floor plan options at: http://campusunions.ucdavis.edu

Begining Summer 2009, the Coffee House will be renovating all food service and dining areas. Due to noise related issues with the construction and the need for a space to serve grab-and-go food, MU II will be closing as an event space from July 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. The smaller meeting rooms adjacent to MU II will remain open and available for use with the contingency that there will be noise related issues due to construction and the food service. Campus Unions also suggests that you consider King Lounge or the Cabernet room at the Silo as an alternative event space to MU II. If you have any questions regarding the upcoming changes in the MU meeting spaces, please contact Stephanie Eich at 752-4486 or via email at smeich@ucdavis.edu.

Reservation Procedures and Guidelines
Campus clients can check room availability by selecting "Space Availability" from the menu at the left.  Reservation requests can be completed on-line, printed and faxed to our office by selecting the "Reservation Request Form" from the menu at the left (this applies to departments only; student organizations must bring the signed form to the CEVS office).  Additional reservation policies and guidelines can be found via the grey tab titled "University Event Services" at the top of the home page.
